On Nov 9 at Stafford Lake Park (Marin County) we’re debuting Team Competition and giving teams with youth/junior (18 and under) riders a way to fuel their program while they race
How it works:
• Reserve team pit space—plant the tent, fly the flags, rally your crew.
• Register 4+ riders with your team name—kids, parents, and coaches all count.
• After the event, we write your team a check for $25 × every registered team rider.
Example: 5 riders register = $125 back to your team.

Team Competition Debuts at the Rattler!
Head-to-head team racing lands at Stafford Lake on Nov 9. Juniors and Adult/Mixed teams go wheel-to-wheel on the Rattler’s fast, flow-first course—chip-timed results, team awards, and a roaring pit row. Bring the tent, fly your colors, and race for bragging rights at Marin’s most electric XC venue.
Team Competition Summary:
- Team Divisions: Juniors • Adult/Mixed (any combo)
- How it works: Add your team name at sign-up → riders score points by placing in their categories → top finishers count toward your team total → team podiums + awards at day’s end
- Pit Row: Limited frontage for team tents—bring the hype and make it your home base
- High school and Devo squads - Stafford Lake is a NorCal NICA race venue—come test the legs and get some early race experience!
Vibe: Full-gas racing. Teams, awards, and big-crowd energy.

2025 Stafford Lake Team Scoring and Rules
The Stafford Lake Rattler Team Competition (UNOFFICIAL)
Team Divisions:
Juniors: Team composed of any combination of riders in High School, Middle School or Grade School at the time of the race.
Adults/Mixed: Team composed of any combination of rider ages.
Points and Scoring: For each division, the top 5 scores will count towards the team total. The top 3 teams will receive podium ceremony and awards (TBD)
Open Category: A maximum of 2 open category riders can score towards the team competition
Team Points: The table to the left shows the points awarded for each finish position and category.
Women/Girls: We considered bonus points for women and girls like NICA, but decided that even with a great turn out there is an inherent advantage to more women on a team due to small fields.

Juniors 13-14
Novice Men/Women: Juniors 15-16, Juniors 17-18, 19-34, 35-49, 50+
Sport Men/Women: Juniors 15-16, Juniors 17-18, 19-34, 35-49, 50+
Expert Men/Women: Juniors 15-16, Juniors 17-18, 19-34, 35-49, 50+
Open/Pro: Men; Women
Laps and distances will be announced closer to race day.
